Ginger-Pup Cookies
Christmas is a time for family, friends, giving, and cheer! It’s also a time for food, drinks and of course, desserts!! Here is a recipe for your furriest of friends, so that they can join in on the holiday fun.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup molasses
- 4 Tablespoons honey
- 1 Cup water
- ½ Cup vegetable oil
- 6 Cups whole wheat flour
- 2 Teaspoons baking soda
- 1 Teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 Teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 Teaspoon of dried ginger powder
- (Optional) Yogurt Chips
Instructions
- Combine molasses, honey, water, and oil into one bowl.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger.
- Slowly combine the wet ingredients with dry ingredients and blend well.
- Divide dough into 4 balls and then wrap with plastic wrap.
- Put the balls of dough in the fridge for 3–5 hours. You want the dough cold, you can freeze for 1–2 hours (just don’t let it get solid!).
- Preheat oven to 350° F when you are ready to make the Ginger-Pup cookies.
- After the dough is cold, sprinkle counter with flour and roll out dough to about ¼″ thick.
- Cut into cute, fun Christmas and holiday shapes, like trees, cats (for the dog of course!), gingerbread people, reindeer…etc.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes.
- (Optional) Frost them by using melted yogurt chips as the frosting.
You can store your cookies in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks at room temperature, or freeze them for longer storage life.
