Update: All three of these awesome boys have been adopted! THANK YOU!
Being active members in our community is an important aspect of being a local business, even with a worldwide distribution. We not only want to help our many customers with their dogs, and their neighbors dogs, but we also want to make sure that we are helping the dogs that don’t have a home of their own. That’s why we have teamed up with the Jackson County Animal Shelter and Friends of the Animal Shelter to not only help get these dogs a forever home, but to support a great organization doing amazing things for homeless animals and our community.
We will be featuring dogs on our Facebook page that are in desperate need of being adopted, most of these dogs are breeds that are misunderstood so it has become difficult to find them a home.
These dogs who we have had the pleasure of meeting are all very sweet, but because of public opinion have been deemed “aggressive” or “not family-friendly” which couldn't be further from the truth. Most of these dogs do well with children and other dogs but there are some that have special needs and certain restrictions based on their previous home life.
Just like you would when making any decision it is extremely important to consider every factor in your home life and lifestyle before adopting. Meeting the dog, getting to know their quirks and asking questions to the workers at the shelter will help when making the final decision. Some of these dogs have been at the shelter for quite some time and adjusting to a new home isn’t going to be instantaneous, so going into this process with an open mind will help you and your new companion adjust to this new situation.
Now, if adoption is not your cup of tea, or you already have too many dogs (you know who you are…) then there are other ways you can help!
You can donate money to your local animal shelter, because most all shelters are underfunded and are always in need of food and supplies for the animals coming in on a daily basis. You can also donate your time by becoming a volunteer. Volunteering is very beneficial to dogs in the shelter, allowing them more outside time, walks and socialization which increases their chances of becoming adopted. It can also be a rewarding experience for you as well, because who doesn’t love being around dogs all the time?!
We are so excited to begin this new chapter, and look forward to becoming a pillar of hope and love to these wonderful animals. One day we hope that all dogs will get their forever home!
